Learning Outcomes

Through participation in Azusa Pacific University’s Wilderness Orientation Program students will:

-          Gain awareness of the values and character of Azusa Pacific University (APU) as a university community

-          Learn how to pursue a positive and meaningful undergraduate experience at APU by interacting with upperclassmen, alumni and staff

-          Develop supportive relationships with peers and APU staff members

-          Develop a positive connection with APU to the point that they could see themselves completing college at APU

-          Grow in their ability to offer grace and compassion to their neighbors through the demonstration of love and respect for those with diverse perspectives

-          Encounter Christ through quiet reflection, meditation, and solitude while spending extended time in His creation

-          Be able to identify Leave No Trace principles which are the basis for an ethic of environmental stewardship

-          Learn the basics of wilderness travel

I rewrote these learning outcomes during the planning for the Summer 2009 Wilderness Orientation trip.
